We now have a critical need for qualified Flight Instructor to join our Flight Training Centre Team to provide quality theory and practical ab-initio flight training to student pilots, starting in July 2021. This role is a short-term salaried role for 3-6 months, and is located in Mareeba.
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using aircraft to deliver help and hope across the developing world. Our flight training centre in Mareeba focuses on preparing trainee pilots for flying in some of the most extreme conditions and locations found in mission aviation, and flight students wanting to benefit from the experience of MAF.
The duties of this short-term role are to provide quality theory and practical flight training to ab-initio trainees. You will be responsible for delivering quality training in accordance with the approved syllabus, standard techniques and operating procedures. It is also required that you monitor student progress, recording details of student lessons and ensuring student pilots are clear on course objectives and time-lines.
By incorporating all key knowledge, skills-technical, skills-non technical and attitude (KSSA) competencies, student pilots learn to develop critical thinking through the application of threat and error management skills under your training. You will also need to encourage a professional attitude to develop key behaviours.
In promoting the safety culture and learning culture, you will report all safety occurrences in a timely manner and actively encourage the trainees to use the Safety Management System. Additionally, you will participate in a supportive learning culture incorporating trainee centre techniques, engaging with visiting groups and assisting with administrative tasks.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
ICAO CPL with instrument rating (current)
Holding a Instrument Rating and Flight Instructor Rating
Excellent team communication and written skills
Ability to communicate across cultural boundaries
Good report writing skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Mission or cross cultural experience
Considerable experience as a Flight Instructor
Experience on MAFTC fleet
Experience with working with other cultures
Grade 1-2 Flight Instructors are preferred due to the short-term nature of the role, however under exceptional circumstances we will consider a Grade 3 Instructor.
