Love Engineering and enjoy training?
From time to time short term opportunities become available serving in one of our programmes. These can be from 6 – 12 months and are usually salaried. We look for people who have a real heart for our ministry in reaching some of the most isolated people across the world.
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using light aircraft to deliver help and hope in over 30 developing countries. For over 70 years, MAF has been transporting patients, relief workers, produce and medical supplies to the world’s remotest regions and places of deepest human need – places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline.
Bangladesh is one of the world’s most densely populated and least developed countries. One third of the population of Bangladesh live below the poverty line. Many people are landless and forced to live on, and cultivate, flood-prone areas. Severe flooding from the annual monsoon and cyclones pose serious threats to lives and livelihoods. Although surrounded by water, many of the waterways, especially fishing areas, are polluted by the use of commercial pesticides. A quarter of all deaths in Bangladesh are from preventable, water-related diseases. With more than 8,000 kilometres of rivers and the huge Ganges Delta, travelling to receive help is difficult, dangerous and time-consuming.
Our aircraft land in all conditions and environments, they can only do so because of the phenomenal engineering team that keep them airworthy. Do you want to assist this fabulous team and help transform lives, physically and spiritually in Jesus name? In Bangladesh, MAF utilises amphibious aircraft to make use of the numerous waterways to reach the most isolated and remote regions. Most of our flights are for relief and development NGOs, government agencies and health workers, enabling them to reach remote communities efficiently.
We currently have an urgent need to fill a one year role as a Training Supervisor to develop and train local aviation maintenance staff in order to improve technical skill and knowledge across the maintenance team; facilitating those eligible to become licenced engineers, and to mentor staff members in their roles. All while assisting with overall maintenance operations including maintenance on single turbine engine aircrafts, budget preparation, stock management, licencing matters, and adhering to compliance requirements.
You will need to have experience in inspiring a growing multi-national and multi-cultural team; encourage good teamwork, and foster a proactive and positive safety culture. MAF believes strongly that everything we do to serve is done through the lens of our core values of Impact, Witness, Excellence, Partnership, Stewardship and Care and that through this, we will help bring help and hope to people in some of the world’s poorest communities.
