China's future scientific leaders will be highly influential in the world's largest nation, and are largely brought up as atheists. Their worldview denies the existence of God, leaving them believers only in 'knowledge', as proven in what they deem to be scientific fact. Many scientists and their graduate and doctoral students at top Chinese academic institutions need your editing skills as they write their soon-to-be published research papers.
As you edit scientific papers, you will have opportunities to build relationships with China's future leaders and help reach the scientific community. You will be able to share insight into how science and faith can co-exist, and how science itself reveals a loving, ordered Creator. You will likely also be able to meet and encourage local believers who are scientists. By His grace, we hope to see the scientific community reached for Christ and bring change to how future generations are taught about their existence, to His glory.
China's cities are seeing an inflow at a rate never seen before, with an estimated 1 billion by 2030. As you work in a large urban center, home to this urban billion, you will find it full of modern conveniences, efficient public transportation, access to Western groceries, traffic congestion, high-rises and a massive population -- living here is much like it would be in any global city... only, completely different! Be prepared for chaos, friendly people, delicious street food, and the hustle and bustle as you brush shoulders with the urban billion in one of the world's largest cities.
