- daily running of the center
- overseeing the Chinese staff (cook, househelp)
- keeping financial and records and organizing guest reservations
- maintaining the facilities.
There is also some scope for spiritual ministry with guests, depending on the gifts of the hosts.
The hosts will be dealing with a large number of people from different countries and agencies. They need to enjoy people and be approachable and flexible.
The hosts will need some administrative skills to keep bookings and financial records, organisational ability for meal planning and overseeing staff. As salaries are high in Taiwan, Oasis maintains only a small staff. The hosts will also be hands on in many areas.
Hours are changeable and the work load varies according to occupancy rates. The hosts need to be healthy and able to cope with a heavy work load at various times.
A sense of calling to a ministry of service and making Oasis a place of spiritual rest and renewal.
Bible school/seminary qualifications are not necessary but may assist in obtaining a missionary visa.
Basic Chinese ability is necessary to communicate with the staff and local shops and service providers. If applicants do not already speak Chinese, they will first be spend 1-2 years in Mandarin study before taking on the job.
Oasis is in a rural location and there are few foreigners living close by. The hosts will need to adjust to a certain degree of isolation and be able to cope spiritually and personally without a lot of close fellowship.
