Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using light aircraft to deliver help and hope in 26 developing countries. For over 70 years, MAF has been transporting patients, relief workers, produce and medical supplies to the world’s remotest regions and places of deepest human need – places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline.
One of these places is Arnhem Land, a historical region of the Northern Territory of Australia. It is also a vast wilderness area, defined by rocky escarpments, gorges, rivers and waterfalls. MAF has served the people in Arnhem Land for over 45 years by sharing God’s love through aviation and technology. To continue enabling our service in Arnhem Land we require an experienced Facilities Manager.
You will effectively manage all properties and vehicles owned and leased by MAF and to ensure their maintenance. This responsibility includes all properties such as MAF hangars, homes, and work spaces, as well as all vehicles other than programme aircraft.
Managing the Maintenance function by:
Co-ordinating property maintenance work on up to 40 houses in East Arnhem Land, according to the priorities set by the Programme Director
Managing other maintenance personnel and volunteers as required;
Overseeing and arranging (or delegating the arrangement of) contractors and work parties, as necessary;
Supervising the erection of new buildings where requested
Ensuring maintenance and upkeep of all MAF tools and equipment which are used for property maintenance;
Ensuring all building and maintenance work complies with local codes of practice and building regulations;
Inspecting contractors’ building work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications and that proper building standards are maintained.
Liaising with the Programme Director in the setting of, and monitoring of, the annual property maintenance budget
Utilising resources as efficiently and effectively as possible
Requesting approval for non budgeted expenditure
Establishing and communicating priority for maintenance and project tasks, in consultation with the Programme Director
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
You must have a building trade qualification and licences.
At least 3 years of experience in your licenced building trade
At least 2 years of building project management experience
Cross cultural experience
