We Have an Exciting and Challenging Opportunity For Followers of Jesus With a Gift of Evangelism to Mentor Team Members reaching to Unreached People Groups (UPG) in Southeast (SE) Asia.
Job Description
Most of our neighbors have never met a follower of Jesus. They are influenced by “works” and rituals mentalities, with an absence of the power to overcome sin, nor the promise of salvation.
The existence of the spirit world is assumed. Religion is practiced quite openly. The area includes a significant population of those who claim to be Muslims.
We have needs in various locations and settings. Some are urban-focused, others are more focused on rural village settings. Some are quite multicultural and others are more homogeneous.
Responsibilities
The work would involve being part of a team dedicated to reaching out to UPG people. After studying language you will be involved in supporting and developing the team's strategy in reaching the people. You will have opportunity to use your evangelistic gifts in a culturally appropriate manner. You will also be mentoring other team members in sharing Jesus.
Qualifications
Gift of Evangelism as major gift. The candidate would need to have experience in sharing Jesus and seeing people come to faith in their home country context, and where possible have been involved in sharing Jesus among the same religious group we work with in their home country. They would need a passion & heart for these people and a teachable spirit as they liaise with the team. They would need the necessary qualifications in order to obtain a work visa in the context God calls them to work.
Living Situations
The applicant should be prepared to live an appropriate lifestyle within the community in which they will live. Among other things, this relates to dressing modestly, and being sensitive to the dietary restrictions of our neighbors. This is very helpful as it would build bridges with neighbours and friends. It also means contextualizing the language we use to share about Jesus. In the local culture it is important that the men relate to the men and the women relate to the women.
- Committed to direct ministry among our focus people.
- Able to maintain good spiritual health, even in the face of practical and spiritual challenges.
- Willing to work together on a diverse team of people from different cultures with mutual accountability, but also self-reliance.
- One year training in biblical/mission studies and also a desire to work using evangelistic gifting.
- Hopefully the candidate has learned some fruitful practices in Pioneer Church planting.
