Malaysia is a bustling melting-pot of different races and religions. The Malay people comprise around 50% of the population, with the remainder being made up of Chinese, Indian and other indigenous peoples. Since the Malay are 100% Muslim, Islam is the official religion of the country, but Buddhism and Hinduism are also freely practiced by the other ethnic groups and around 10% of them are followers of Jesus.
You will have the opportunity to live out your faith and make a positive impact on your friends, neighbours and work colleagues in a similar way to being in your home country.
The weather is hot and humid all the year round. Like the climate, the people are warm and friendly. Many Malaysians live and work in busy cities with modern conveniences, but they still continue their traditions. Malay is the national language, but many ethnic groups also converse in their various languages and dialects. In some of the bigger urban centers English is widely spoken.
