Seeking a Business & Operations Director
1.0 FTE | Based in Melbourne
We are seeking expressions of interest from suitable candidates who are passionate about enabling the church to participate in cross-cultural mission, enthusiastic about Interserve’s distinctives and values, and understand how to oversee the operational support needed to help make that happen. To do this, the successful candidate will have strong expertise in business leadership, financial management and not-for-profit compliance and governance.

About the role:
The Business & Operations Director will lead Interserve’s Business & Operations portfolio, is a member of the Leadership Team and works closely with the National Director. They will be a committed and growing, prayerful servant of Jesus.
This role calls for:
- capacity to lead and manage the Business & Operations portfolio with management and financial accounting competence
- ability to inspire and manage staff and stakeholders in achieving business outcomes.
The scope and responsibilities include:
- Strong competencies in business leadership and strategic planning
- Expert management and financial accounting skillset
- The role of Public Officer for Interserve Australia Limited and its subsidiary Interserve Development Limited
- Ongoing fluency with ongoing trends in NFP leadership, management, governance and compliance.
There will be occasional interstate and international travel, and work outside normal business hours. Out of hours work is compensated by time off in lieu. This is a salaried position equating to a pre-tax package of approximately $105,000.

You will have a passion for cross-cultural Christian mission. You will be fully committed to and engaged with Interserve’s vision, values, purpose and statement of faith. You will be resourceful, pragmatic, have a positive can-do attitude and be a self-starter who can see projects completed well and on time.
Other criteria include:
- Tertiary accounting and management qualifications (CPA and/or MBA) is highly desirable
- Demonstrated financial management & accounting experience
- Business management experience is desirable
- Background in NFP or mission sector is desirable
- Experience with complex, multi-faceted projects is helpful
- Strong computing skills with software like MS Office, Salesforce and MYOB
- Passing a police check, working with children check and other related checks.
