Refugee and Migrant Ministry

Do you enjoy building relationships with refugees mainly from Muslim background and use a window of time to share the Gospel in word and deed, to show hospitality, listen to their stories and pray for them? Do you have a heart to teach and serve the poor and vulnerable, to find creative ways to encourage and help them? Then come and join our team here in Greece.

Opportunities existed in the following areas: 1. Minister to refugees/migrants in Sicily - Catania. Make contact through food distribution, teaching English or German, Italian languages, camp visits, regular meetings, focused events and so on. This vibrant and valuable ministry is in partnership with another agency. Some effective tools for conversational evangelism are included in the orientation.2. Minister to refugees/migrants in Torino. Make contact through Italian or English  language classes, building friendship and relationships with Arabic speaking refugees, and other language groups. 3. Minister to Chinese or Indian/Pakistani Diaspora groups. Build friendships and share Christ among mainland Chinese business people, or Indian farm and factory workers in the north of Italy. 

Requirements: Learn some basic Greek, your ministry will be mainly in English, but Arabic, Farsi etc. are of great help. Be flexible as the influx of refugees varies greatly in number and origin. Usually refuges move on after 1-2 years. Readiness to work together with the local church. It will be important to network well with the local church and other likeminded organizations. The team there cannot provide a visa, you will have to research this yourself. If you have a passport from an EU country, it will be easiesr.  Some non-EU citizens can get a Financial Independent Visa which is valid for three years.
