Come live in Vietnam as you invest in short termers with the goal of long term impact. Mobilise short termers to catch God's heart for Vietnam and be further involved in missions after they return home.
You will be joining a field that works with both the majority people group as well as a few of the minority people groups in VN, all of our focus groups are considered least reached. Most people in Vietnam have an animistic worldview, though Buddhism also influences the culture. We long to see a church planting movement in each people group in VN, the impact spreading through the whole country and beyond.
Your role will be coordinating and hosting short termers that come to VN. You will be a mobilizer; casting vision for the needs and opportunities here. You will be influential in growing prayer support for VN, raising awareness and calling some of our short termers to come back long term.
You will be living in a major city and be part of a small team there. You will need to be able to take initiative and be willing to contribute to team life- expect to grow in faith and perseverance! You should be aware that our work in Vietnam requires wisdom and discretion; we follow certain security precautions and seek to work with sensitivity to the local situation, whilst remaining bold with the gospel. Living standards in Vietnam are lower than in many countries, and you will need to be ready to face the challenges of living in a cross-cultural setting.
Initially you'll be in full time language study and after some time this will continue part time.
A significant chunk of your time will be spent on the computer, e-mailing other coordinators around the world.
You will be training and equipping field members to be field hosts and you will also host some of the short termers yourself. Our short term program is a missional discipleship program, so your role is to ensure we are investing effectively into each short term worker.
Several times a year you'll travel with short termers through the country, and occasionally have the opportunity to travel internationally for further training.
The coordinating and hosting is not a full time role, so you'll also be doing the following:
-Discipleship in a Vietnamese church
-Using your skills or gifts to contribute to existing ministries?br>-Building friendships and reaching non-believers
You will be responsible to the Vietnam Field Director as well as to the International Facilitator of our short term program.
We are looking for someone with strong administration skills in addition to good interpersonal skills, as you'll be communicating with a wide range of people internationally.
You need a high level of English for daily communication.
As well you'll need self-discipline and self-motivation as you won't be working in an office setting, you'll be working from home.
This role requires strategic thinking. You'll receive inquirers from a wide range of people and need to determine who is most suitable to our program and purposes.
Previous experience in our international short term program is valuable but not required.
