Reaching out with the gospel in challenging cross-cultural contexts – what does this look like today? Meet and hear from our cross-cultural workers serving across East Asia at our next Mission Conference Courageous Faith on July 23, 2022 at Morling College, Sydney. An online option will be available so wherever you are in Australia, we’d love you to come along!
You’ll hear from Nicky Chong, OMF International Director for East Asia-South, who has served in mission for almost twenty years – including in contexts of violence, financial crisis and pandemics. You’ll also learn from cross-cultural workers on topics such as biblical storytelling, using your profession in mission and engaging in discipleship ministry in Asia.
As you hear of how God’s working across East Asia and through East Asians, you’ll discover that while courageous faith is not always about calculated risk and dangerous places – it’s always about trusting and obeying God, and is always for every Christian.

Keynote speaker – Nicky Chong, OMF International Director for East Asia-South
Nicky and his family have served in missions in East Asia for almost twenty years. As OMF International Director for East Asia-South since October 2021, Nicky is based in Singapore. Nicky’s journey hasn’t been without its twists and turns, requiring courageous faith along the way. For Nicky, courageous faith was about trusting and obeying God - and seeing Him guide and provide for theological studies, ministry in challenging contexts, and everyday needs.
After completing degrees in communications and intercultural studies in the US, Nicky spent a year studying linguistics in Australia. He and his wife, Soak Wan, have worked in East and South East Asia during periods of violence, financial crisis and pandemics. They’ve also served as church pastors and as director of Wycliffe, Singapore. Theirs is a story of serving in various Asian contexts, the joy of close and strong collaboration and partnerships with local leaders, and trusting and obeying God in courageous faith.
